In many professional fields, a gown that can be removed quickly and is comfortable against the skin is essential for safety and comfort. While synthetic materials are sometimes less breathable and become electrostatically charged more quickly, cotton ensures a pleasant climate. This is particularly important in order to be able to concentrate and work effectively in stressful working environments during long shifts.
The gown can be used in conjunction with additional protective equipment, such as nitrile gloves or safety goggles, and meets the requirements of various standards in laboratory and medical areas in combination with suitable PPE (personal protective equipment). Thanks to its robust qualities, it is suitable for repeated washing at high temperatures, which reliably removes germs and chemical residues. Many laboratories therefore prefer gowns with pure cotton, as they are easier to clean in autoclaves or in special washing cycles in the event of major soiling.
Important standards and certifications
In professional environments, garments should comply with the relevant standards for protective clothing. DIN EN ISO 13688, for example, which defines general requirements for protective clothing in terms of ergonomics, harmlessness and labeling, is relevant for a lab coat of this type. If required, this lab coat can be combined with other protective components to cover specific standards. Professionals should always take into account the different working conditions and safety guidelines in their company to check for any additional certifications.
