Labbox refractometer, portable, digital
The Labbox refractometer, portable, digital combines high measurement accuracy and unusually versatile application options in a compact format. This device is ideal for anyone who needs to measure precise refractive indices and concentration values in laboratories and production facilities. Thanks to innovative digital technology and automatic temperature compensation (ATC), the refractometer delivers reliable results after just a short time. Compared to many similarly equipped measuring devices, this model impresses with its large, color TFT display with intuitive presentation as well as its robust, ergonomic design.
Precise technology for a wide range of applications
The integrated automatic system ensures reliable and fast measured value recording in the range from 5 to 40 °C without the need for manual adjustments. From Brix values, which are particularly important in the food and beverage industry, to the refractive index (RI) for various solution-dependent controls and determining the Oechsle degree for winemakers: the device covers a broad spectrum with its digital measurement. It also measures mass S/W, the potential alcohol content (PA) and KMW (Babo) - ideal for precisely determining the sugar content and fermentation potential of dairy products, honey, wines or sweet drinks.
In addition to its measurement versatility, the IP65, CE and ROHS directives apply to this refractometer, meaning that it is of a high standard in terms of safety and quality. The IP65 protection class ensures comprehensive protection against dust and splash water, which is particularly essential in production-related environments. At the same time, it has automatic energy control, which ensures efficient and sustainable operation during use. Overall, the device is a reliable measuring instrument that delivers accurate results even under demanding conditions.

Although it is compact and easy to transport, it effortlessly replaces stationary refractometer variants in many work areas. Whether wineries, food controls or pharmaceutical laboratory applications: The device supports professionals in various industries with quality testing, concentration determination and process control.
Application examples from practice
- Wineries use the refractive index or Oechsle value to check the sugar content in grape must in order to determine the time of harvest
.
- In the beverage industry, the measuring device is used to continuously monitor the Brix content of juices, soft drinks or energy drinks.
- In the dairy industry, the potential alcohol content (PA) of fermented products such as kefir or yoghurt can be monitored to ensure reproducible quality.
- Pharmacies and laboratories use the measurement of refractive indices to determine the purity or concentration of certain liquids and thus guarantee exact formulations.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
How often does the device need to be calibrated?
Depending on the area of use and frequency of measurements, calibration is recommended at regular intervals, for example once a week or after intensive use. The function for user-defined setting of the blank value significantly simplifies this process.
Is the outer housing waterproof?
The IP65 protection class protects the device against dust and splash water. However, it should not be completely submerged in water for long-term safe operation.
Which batteries are required
The refractometer is powered by two 1.5 V AAA batteries. These are easy to obtain and can be replaced quickly, enabling long operating times.
Is the device suitable for honey analysis?
Yes, thanks to the Brix value, sugar content in honey can be reliably measured. The refractive index can also provide valuable information for further quality checks.
How accurate is the temperature display?
The integrated temperature measurement covers a range from 0 to 40 °C and has an accuracy of ±0.5 °C. This is a decisive advantage, especially in laboratory applications or with temperature-sensitive samples.
