KERN compact baby scale MBA 10K-3M
The compact and professional baby scale for mobile or stationary use impresses above all with its particularly safe, recessed Safe-Guard lying surface. This ensures precise weight control and reliable results from the very first weeks. Thanks to its modular design and robust plastic surface, it is not only easy to clean, but also a durable solution for clinics, pediatric practices and midwives. Similar reliable weighing results as with the KERN MBC 15K-2M provide a convenient alternative if a wider weighing surface is required.
Powerful companion in practice
This scale is ideal for paediatricians, hospitals and midwife stations that require verification and medical approval (verification class III). Thanks to its modern design, the device can be easily integrated into any medical environment. The special Safe-Guard lying surface is designed to optimally stabilize small children and prevent them from accidentally rolling out. Rubber feet also ensure non-slip positioning, reliably preventing unintentional changes in position during weighing.
The data hold function makes it easier to read the weight, especially when the child is moving and the display needs to be kept in view. In addition, the integrated AUTO-OFF function saves energy by switching the device off automatically when not in use. Thanks to its compact design, the scale can be easily stored and transported anywhere.
Technical features and special features
To provide a detailed overview of the most important technical data, the key points are summarized here:
- Calibration class: III
- Weighing range (max): 15 kg
- Readability (d) / calibration value (e): 5 g
- Material of the weighing plate: Robust plastic
- Battery operation: Up to 20 hours running time (6x 1.5 V AA)
- Safe-Guard surface: Deep recess with raised sides
- Data hold function: Practical freezing of the display value
In addition, the model has rotating foot screws and a bubble level to ensure precise alignment of the device. The weight is particularly reliable thanks to the strain gauge system and can be optimally calibrated after a warm-up time of around 10 minutes. The tare function of up to 14.995 kg even allows weighing together with blankets or cloths without affecting the final result. Especially with very restless babies, it is practical to carry out an adjustment on the spot using external weights (e.g. 15 kg M1).
In addition, the device complies with the relevant approvals in accordance with 93/42/EEC and 2014/31/EU, making it suitable for universal clinical use as well as for daily work in medical practices. The safe weighing of babies is at the heart of the concept, which is successfully supported by the recessed lying surface.
Examples of use
- - Monitoring the body weight of premature babies in a neonatal unit
- - Routine check-ups with pediatricians to record growth and nutritional parameters
- - Weighing babies at home during home visits by midwives
- - Documentation of weight gain during follow-up care and prevention of malnutrition
In the areas mentioned above, the scale offers concrete advantages: it can be stowed away quickly and can also be set up in a confined examination room. The hard-wearing plastic housing is resistant to disinfectants, ensuring hygienic intermediate cleaning after each weighing operation.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
How can the scale be operated on the move?
Simply with six standard 1.5 V AA batteries, which enables a runtime of up to 20 hours. Alternatively, a mains adapter (100-240 V) is available for stationary operation.
What to do if the baby moves a lot
The integrated data hold function freezes the measured value so that an exact reading is taken despite movement. In addition, the specially shaped lying surface helps to position the baby safely.
Does the scale need to be adjusted regularly?
For optimum measuring accuracy, periodic adjustment with a suitable calibration weight (e.g. 15 kg in the M1 standard) is recommended. Official initial calibration in accordance with 93/42/EEC and 2014/31/EU is also possible.
What is the best way to clean the surface?
The plastic lying surface can be easily wiped with a mild disinfectant spray or cleaning agent. The smooth surfaces without corners and edges make thorough hygiene easy to carry out.
Conclusion
This versatile baby scale is an ideal tool for the modern pediatrician's office or everyday hospital use thanks to its compact design, approved calibration class III and sophisticated Safe-Guard surface. The robust design and well thought-out features offer a precise and durable solution for monitoring the weight of small children safely and hygienically. The data hold function and uncomplicated battery operation make it a flexible helper that can be used both stationary and mobile. Thanks to its certified quality and rapid operational readiness, it is a reliable investment for all professionals involved in weighing infants in medical diagnostics.
