Julabo immersion cooler: the versatile cooling solution for all laboratories
The Julabo immersion cooler is a cost-effective alternative to cooling with expensive tap water. This type of cooling is ideal for counter-cooling and is used in combination with heat thermostats. In addition, these effective cooling devices are used for cooling liquids to low temperatures. They are used as a substitute for dry ice.

This FT immersion cooler from Julabo is therefore excellently suited for a wide range of cooling tasks. The devices of this series are used in addition to the connection with heat thermostats or for rapid cooling of liquids, because these reach lower temperatures faster than would be possible with other methods. Thus, the devices of this series are used especially for low temperature values.
The technical specification
The air-cooled chiller has a compact design, a precise temperature sensor and replaces the conventional cooling with tap water. The lowest temperatures are -90 °C to 40 °C and -20°C. Thus, liquids can be cooled to low temperatures. The FT902 and FT402 models have integrated temperature control and display. In addition, they have Pt100 external sensors made of stainless steel with a diameter of 200 mm x 6 mm. The unit is suitable for an ambient temperature between 5 °C and 35 °C.
The cooling capacity is 0.3 kW at 20 °C. The immersion probe is flexible and the dimensions are 55 cm x 38 cm x 60 cm. The model weighs 50 kg. The possible temperature range is between -90 °C and +30 °C. The voltage should be 115 V or 230 V.

If the immersion coolers are used frequently, they must be subjected to the E-check every three to six months.
In addition to the immersion sensors, the temperatures, voltages are measured and the overall functionality is checked. The visual inspection of the outer shell of the unit is therefore checked, as even small dents can affect the sensitive sensors. The liquids must be in the cooler to be cooled properly. A tilted position of the unit would impair the temperature control and thus the cooling performance. Since there have been repeated accidents with dry ice in the past, this cooling method is to be welcomed.
