Drum pump from Medsolut different types of drive

This type of pump consists of the drive motor as well as a pumping unit optimised for the application. The only exception is the manually operated pump.

Drum pump electric

The electric version is available with electric motors in the following versions

  • 23 volt,
  • 115 volt
  • and 24 Volt

available. The drive motor is quickly and firmly connected to the immersion tube by means of a hand wheel.

With the Brkle EnergyOne product line 100, 70 and 50 is a mains-operated pump model series. This series is particularly suitable for use in connection with small containers, narrow openings and small quantities of liquid in a range from 0.4 l/min to 12 l/min.

Manual drum pump

This is a version that can be operated by hand. Water, lubricants, light oils, light acids or alkalis and water-based chemical liquids can be pumped for occasional use.

Typical representatives are the Brkle lever pumps in polypropylene or stainless steel. With flow rates of 0.35 l/stroke and infinitely variable immersion depths of 65 to 90 cm, they can be operated with a variety of containers.

Pneumatic drum pump

Pneumatic models are usually equipped with a hand pump for small containers. For example, the Brkle solvent pump “Mini for small containers up to 10 litres.

The “solvent pump with remote operation” also works independently of the mains. All parts that come into contact with solvents are made of stainless steel and PTFE . Immersion tubes and R2 threads are suitable for barrel volumes of 220 litres.

Battery barrel pump

The battery-operated version allows operation independent of the mains supply. The Brkle “AccuOne” pump is an innovative product. The technology, designed for small filling quantities and narrow openings, is operated via a membrane keypad. Flow rates are infinitely variable from 0.4 l to 12 l/min.

Drum pumps for various liquids

Robust, durable models for industry are generally made of high-quality materials. As a rule, the materials are:

  • Polypropylene (PP) for the absorption of acids and alkalis;
  • Stainless steel V2A (1.4301) for flammable liquids;
  • Polytetrafluoroethylene (abbreviation PTFE) as material for seals.

Read more about the requirements of the specific liquids below.

    • for petrol, diesel or l

Special precautions must be taken when disposing of flammable liquids. The waste equipment provided is made of conductive materials. This ensures that any electrostatic discharge is complete and free from sparking. Flammability and explosion of flammable substances are prevented by means of optionally available anti-static sets in conjunction with the stainless steel pump.
    • For water
Stainless steel materials are generally used for pumping water. The spectrum ranges from plastics to stainless metal versions. The market offers manual as well as electric and pneumatic systems.
    • for acids and alkalis
The surebestnd drum pump is suitable for handling alkalis, cleaning agents and acids. Plastic pumps made of PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) or PP (polypropylene) are suitable.

Buying a barrel pump You still need to pay attention to this

Decisive for the purchase of your all-round suitable barrel pump are, on the one hand, the performance data. This includes criteria such as the type of drive as well as the immersion depth and flow rate. The liquids stored in the container are decisive for the material from which the pump is made.

Size of the tank

Pneumatically driven pumps are recommended for filling liquid substances from containers with a volume of up to about 60 litres . Pneumatics are generated by means of air overpressure in the container. The liquid is pumped out of the container via the riser pipe.

For larger barrels, a model is suitable which sucks in the liquid and delivers it to the outside. Different immersion pipe lengths make this type of pump adaptable to all commercial tanks.

Immersion depth

Special attention is paid to an optimal residual emptying of the tanks. This is ensured by the infinitely variable immersion depth in conjunction with the low-positioned bottom check valve.

Capacity and flow rate

Another important factor in selecting the right pump model is the delivery rate. Electric pumps are particularly efficient at automating the large-volume pumping process . At a fixed location, they are the “first choice”.

At sites without electricity, there are several options. Manual and pneumatic solutions are suitable for small quantities. In mobile applications, the accumulator takes over the role of the mains-operated pump.

Explosion-proof pump

Explosion protection plays an important role in the handling of liquid, flammable hydrocarbons. The explosion-proof version has a stainless steel pump system and an explosion-proof motor. Both components are approved according to ATEX 100 a (Directive 94/9 EC).
