Definition: What is an environmental cabinet?

The environmental cabinet or plant protection cabinet was designed to ensure the proper and safe storage of plant protection products and other toxic or hazardous substances. Correct storage is a prerequisite for the targeted prevention of accidents or loss of raw materials. In addition, you can reduce costs and protect the environment with a cabinet for storing crop protection products. Environmental cabinets are made of non-flammable and corrosion-protected materials.

At you will find, among other things, high-quality galvanised or painted models made of stainless steel or robust sheet steel. Depending on the model, there is usually a security or cylinder lock as well as a specially designed floor collection tray. The lock protects the stored substances from unauthorised access. If necessary, the drip tray catches leaking toxic substances so that they cannot seep into the ground.

What can be stored in an environmental cabinet?

Environmental cabinets are the ideal safety solution if you want to efficiently exclude the risk of fire or prevent the escape of dangerous or toxic substances. Environmental cabinets are mainly used for the storage of fertilisers, pesticides and plant protection products.

There are strict regulations and guidelines for the storage of hazardous substances, which must be kept in specially designed safety or hazardous substance cabinets. In general, however, there is no clearly defined legal area with regard to the storage of hazardous substances. Individual legislation must therefore be observed with regard to explosion, fire, environmental and occupational safety.
