Binder vacuum drying oven for precise temperature control

A Binder vacuum drying oven generates a vacuum inside the appliance, which is why heat-sensitive materials can be treated particularly gently - from drying to tempering. Binder GmbH is one of the leading companies in the manufacture of these appliances, which are characterised by a high quality of workmanship, the highest technical standards and innovative features. Accordingly, Binder vacuum drying ovens can be found in both scientific and industrial laboratories. Which types and models you will find in our portfolio, which equipment features stand out and why Binder is worthwhile as a manufacturer, we have compiled for you here in compact form.

Types of Binder vacuum drying ovens in the MedSolut range

When we talk about a vacuum drying oven, we are talking about a specialised variant - of "conventional" drying ovens. Consequently, a distinction must be made between these models. However, both have wide-ranging application possibilities, ranging from drying and tempering to material testing. Normal drying ovens are operated with forced circulating air or natural convention, while vacuum models generate a negative pressure.

Not least because of this, the boiling point inside the appliance can be lowered, which accelerates drying. Heat-sensitive materials are effectively protected without having to slow down the drying process. Binder models can be divided into two categories: Standard vacuum drying ovens and safety vacuum drying ovens. At MedSolut, we offer a wide range of both model variants so that you can find exactly the right appliance for your individual purposes:

Vacuum drying oven (standard equipment)

Vacuum drying ovens in the standard version combine proven features with innovative equipment so that sensitive materials can be dried safely and gently. The effectiveness of these drying, tempering and material testing processes comes from the combination of a unique safety concept and a high quality of workmanship of the units.

Thanks to a wide temperature range between +9°C and +220°C and programme-controlled drying monitoring, a vacuum drying oven from Binder has become indispensable in many areas. These include, above all, laboratories in biology, chemistry and medicine as well as production facilities and material testing facilities.

Safety vacuum drying oven

With the safety vacuum drying ovens, the manufacturer goes one step further. These models are characterised by a silicone- and dust-free interior that provides an ideal environment with the help of symmetrical airflow. This means that even solvent-based paints and coating materials can be dried safely at elevated temperatures.

In addition, there is a high temperature accuracy and a definable air exchange, which make the drying and tempering results absolutely reproducible. As a result, the devices comply with the safety concept according to DIN EN 1539:2015. A safety vacuum drying chamber from Binder is therefore used in particular in chemical and surface technology.

Binder vacuum drying oven: Equipment

Not only the different variants, but also the extensive equipment of the vacuum drying ovens from Binder are impressive. This makes it possible to set priorities for your own needs and requirements for the device. The outstanding features of these units include the following in particular:

  • APT.line preheating chamber technology: The APT.line preheating chamber technology was developed by Binder and allows absolutely uniform temperature distribution. This homogeneity ensures that there is temporal and spatial temperature accuracy throughout.
  • Integrated temperature selector limiter and digital temperature setting: To ensure that the interior of the Binder vacuum drying oven is protected from excessively high temperatures, a temperature selector limiter (class 2) is installed. It complies with the specifications of DIN 12880 and is equipped with an optical alarm.
  • Fresh air monitor: The fresh air monitor provides an automatic shutdown of the heating as well as an acoustic and optical alarm. It is coupled with replaceable fresh air filter cartridges of class M6, which in turn comply with DIN EN 779:2012.
  • Data recording: All important operating data can be recorded via several interfaces. These include an Ethernet connection as well as a USB port.
  • LCD display: The controller is controlled and the drying or tempering process is checked via a high-quality LCD display. The digital display also continuously shows the pressure and temperature.
  • Drying monitoring: The drying monitoring is programme-controlled on all models, so you don't have to worry about anything. It is also coupled with automatic ventilation at the end of the process.
  • Pressure monitor: The vacuum drying ovens for flammable solvents (VDL series) have an additional pressure monitor. This controls the heating release from a pressure of 100 mbar, which provides additional protection.

Binder vacuum drying chambers: Models

In order to be able to meet all the requirements of different industries, Binder manufactures the vacuum drying ovens in different series, materials like stainless steel and model designs - they also are very easy to clean. The standard vacuum drying ovens can be divided into the VD and VDL series, while the safety vacuum drying ovens are concentrated in the FDL series:

VD series

This vacuum drying oven from Binder can be subdivided into the VD 23VD 53 and VD 115 models, which are characterised by exact temperature control between +9 °C and +220 °C. The VD series is available in three different versions. This makes gentle drying processes possible.

The units are equipped with a touch-screen controller, several shelves and a programme-controlled drying monitoring system. The respective model numbers refer to the interior volume, which is 24 l, 55 l and 119 l.

VDL series

The VDL series currently offers three models, which you can also find at MedSolut: VDL 23, VDL 53 and VDL 115. The interior volumes correspond to the VD series. The VDL series units are explosion-proof, which is why they provide guaranteed safety even when drying organic solvents.

They are also classified according to the ATEX directive (2014/34/EU: EX II 2/3/- G IIB T3 Gb/Gc/- X) and thus certified as compliant safety concept. The temperature range of these models is specified as +9 °C to +110 °C.

FDL series

The FDL series belongs to the safety vacuum drying ovens and is currently available via the Binder vacuum drying oven FDL 115. This unit has a dust- and silicone-free interior combined with a symmetrical airflow. This means that samples containing solvents can also be tempered.

The maximum temperature range extends up to peak values of +300 °C, which are achieved with the help of the innovative APT.line preheating chamber technology. The FDL series also meets all requirements according to EN 1539.
