Highly interesting short lectures and exciting poster presentations - this and much more will make the virtual Research Day of the Deggendorf University of Applied Sciences on March 11, 2021 a very special event. For the first time, the Research Day took place on June 11, 2014.

Even at the first Research Day, the initiators pursued the goal of not only working on and developing research at the department internally. Rather, they intended to "transport" the scientific work, projects, plans and results at the universities and research institutes to the outside world and make them more visible. "Making research tangible and inspiring people, especially young people and young researchers" - this was also an aspiration of the organizers that was in focus from the very beginning. Thus, the remarkable success of the first Day of Research became a milestone of the event series. Since then, the Days of Research have been held in an almost annual rhythm.

Looking at the current program, the 8th Research Day will certainly be as multifaceted as the previous events were. In fact, you can learn, experience and marvel at a lot during this event.

An online event with a wide variety of themes

From 1 to 3:30 p.m. during the virtual event, you will have the opportunity to look far "behind the scenes" of research. You can expect exciting short lectures by scientists and young researchers as well as poster presentations, which have been designed with great attention to detail. In the course of the event you will learn, among other things, which topics the research teams are currently working on at the THD, which projects are currently being planned or are already being implemented. The motto at this event is: "One picture, one sentence - research at a glance".

The focus will be on these and other topics:

  • Energy, modern materials, economic efficiency
  • Mobility today
  • interesting facts about the digital economy
  • the new world of work
  • healthy living
  • Poster sessions, award ceremonies and honors round off the eventful event.

This is what sets the "8th Research Day" apart:

The series of events appeals to a very broad public audience. Thus, this year's 8th Research Day is aimed primarily at responsible persons and interested parties from the fields of business, industry and society. In addition, prospective students as well as all interested employees and not least the students of the Deggendorf University of Applied Sciences are cordially invited to be part of this virtual event.

If you want to get a profound insight into the wide world of research at THD, participation in the Research Day is definitely recommended. Renowned speakers, researchers and young scientists alike will take you on a fascinating journey. Essentially, the Deggendorf University of Applied Sciences specializes in four main areas of research. During the online event, you can find out in detail about the current research projects. The individual reports, lectures and speeches are extremely exciting and "captivating". The best presentation in each case will be honored during the event with the coveted "Best Presentation Award". In addition, the three most outstanding posters, which you will see during the poster sessions, will also be awarded.

Note: The award in the form of a trophy was recently designed, conceived and produced in the in-house manufactory by a design class at the Zwiesel Glass College. In this respect, it, too, represents a true speciality.

Information about the program:

  • At 1 p.m., the event will be opened and words of greeting will be addressed to the participants and the audience.
  • At 13.10 there will be a short keynote speech, in which the university will be briefly introduced and an outlook on the further course of the event will be given.
